SUBJECT: PRE SUBMITTED NEW BUSINESS: Required RONR Training

Background

It has become apparent over the past year that the training that the Northwest Regional Council Chairs have received in regards to how to conduct a meeting per Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised (10^th Ed.) has been inadequate. As a result, the business of the Northwest Regional Council has been seriously impaired. Since it is the will of the Northwest Regional Council that the Council meetings be conducted in accordance with RONR; then it follows that the Chairman, be equipped with the necessary tools to carry out the will of the Council.

Motion

It is moved that the current and all subsequent Northwest Regional Council Chairs be required to complete at least four hours of training on Robert’s Rules of Order during their term of office. This training shall be conducted by a certified Parliamentarian of the Chair’s choice.

Future Northwest Regional Council Chairs will be required to complete this training not later than 90 days after being elected to office. The Northwest Regional Council budget shall include a line item of not more than $600 to conduct this training.
