About SPEEA
We are SPEEA IFPTE Local 2001!
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), IFPTE Local 2001, represents over 17,000 aerospace engineers, technical workers, pilots, and professionals. Our members work across Washington, Kansas, Oregon, Utah and California.
Founded in 1946, SPEEA is a local affiliate of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), AFL-CIO. We negotiate industry-leading contracts, ensuring strong benefits, competitive pay, and fair workplace treatment. We also advocate for members in the workplace, with political leaders, and in our communities.
SPEEA is governed by a member-elected Executive Board and three Councils, supported by professional staff based in Seattle, Everett, and Wichita.
Committed to STEM education, our members mentor, serve on advisory councils, and fund programs through our annual STEM Grant program. In 2021, we launched the Aerospace Career Enhancement (ACE) program to help bring new talent into the aerospace industry.
