We build power for aerospace workers

Our union is made up of nearly 19,000 engineers, scientists, pilots and technical workers in Washington, Kansas, Utah, Oregon and California. We are affiliated with the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers (IFPTE): an alliance of roughly 90,000 professionals across North America.

Since 1946, we’ve leveraged our collective power to win industry-leading pay, salaried overtime, layoff protections and training programs. We are a vital check against the problems that happen when employers put profits before engineering.

Aerospace works because we do.

You can make a difference with SPEEA

A union is a group of co-workers who come together to improve their unique workplace. With a union, you and your colleagues have the right to negotiate a legally binding contract that works for you and your employer. With a union, you have the right to negotiate over any changes your employer wants to make to wages, benefits and working conditions.

Every employer and worksite is different, and organizing a union at your workplace means you and your co-workers can customize a legally binding contract. Without union recognition, employers can change your wages, benefits and working conditions without negotiating with you.

Without a union, your employer can change any part of your working conditions whenever they want.

In SPEEA, every member has a voice and a vote. We elect our union stewards, contract negotiators, executive board members and other leaders, who lead directly from the office cubicle and the shop floor. Members provide input through surveys, workplace meetings and Town Hall events. No SPEEA contract can be ratified without a majority vote to approve.
