There are many different ways for SPEEA members to get involved, connect with others and take action.
Make a difference as a member of a SPEEA committee
SPEEA has a number of committees that provide policy guidance to the SPEEA Council and regional councils, while also organizing activities for members. Committee meetings are open to all SPEEA members – and many of them are held virtually.
Northwest committees
The Action Communication Taskforce, Governing Documents, Labor Delegates, Legislative & Public Affairs, Membership Activities, Negotiation Prep Committee, New Hire/Young Members and Women’s Advocacy.
Midwest committees
Governing Documents, Legislative & Public Affairs, Membership Activities and Young Professionals.
National (SPEEA) committees
Diversity, Governing Documents, Leadership Development and Training, Legislative and Public Affairs, Organizational Planning and Veterans.

Constitutional Committees
SPEEA members who’ve been active in our union may also serve on two committees that play key roles in SPEEA’s operations:
Judicial Review Committee
This three-member committee is responsible for interpreting the SPEEA Constitution and By-Laws and acts as the final hearing body for charges within SPEEA as defined in the Constitution.
Tellers Committees
The SPEEA and regional Tellers Committees are responsible for conducting all SPEEA elections, including Constitutional amendments and referendums. It serves as a hearing body for all charges related to those elections and has the authority to resolve such charges. The committee also oversees Council district delineation and SPEEA’s annual financial audit.
