About 300 Boeing cafeteria workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 8 in the Puget Sound and Portland are facing difficult contract talks with Eurest/Compass over wages.
The SPEEA Northwest Council passed a motion of support, including promoting an online petition to collect members’ signatures, along with informational picketing on July 23, on public sidewalks outside of Boeing at Everett and Renton.
Boeing cafeteria workers called for an information picket at Renton and Everett before their negotiation team resumes bargaining with Compass at the end of July. Email April Rebollo at aprilr@speea.org if you can make it, so we can have signs available.
About their top issue - wages
The cafeteria workers’ contract negotiations have started. One of their main issues is wage increases that keep up with the increased cost of living and the wages of other cafeteria workers employed by Compass. Their last contract was negotiated in 2021.
They work hard every day to feed us – and they are supporting us in our contract negotiations.
