Our WTPU negotiation team returned to the table with Boeing late Thursday and worked non-stop through the day Friday.
We saw a real change on the Boeing side – particularly around the on-call issue – which we attribute to your actions on Thursday.
“It was clear from management’s demeanor while we were at the table that they were responding to your actions,” said James Hatfield, who chairs our WTPU team.
We will continue talking about the on-call issue next week, as we start negotiations on the economic part of the contract.
Again: Thank you for participating. It truly makes a difference.
We are breaking for the weekend and will resume talks on Monday, when we’ll take up pay and benefit discussions. We anticipate we’ll have a final offer from Boeing by the end of next week. However, pay and benefits are typically the most-contentious part of negotiations, so we’ll need you all to be ready if we ask you to support another workplace action like Thursday’s.
Membership matters!
Also, we need you to remind your coworkers that only dues-paying SPEEA members will get to vote on the final offer. Click here to print out a membership form. Once you’ve filled it out, either give it to your Council Rep or drop it off at our union office at 4621 E. 47th St. S.
Also, remind them that they can get these same frequent updates if they sign up for home email and text delivery. It’s easy: Just use this link.
