Just over a month ago, on Dec. 11, your WTPU negotiation team presented Boeing with a complete contract proposal, including pay, benefits and bonuses. Today, Jan. 12, Boeing finally responded with a comprehensive first offer.
While there was some positive movement on medical, dental, leaves of absence and paid time off, your team was incredibly disheartened with the lack of respect demonstrated with the company’s first pass on wage increases.
We remain determined to obtain a contract that reflects the total value that our WTPU- represented workforce brings to the enterprise. We are the ones whose work generates Boeing’s revenues, and we are the ones who will repair Boeing’s beleaguered reputation after decades of short-term profiteering.
We are scheduled to resume bargaining early tomorrow morning.
Let’s show Boeing that the Wichita Technical & Professional Unit gives a damn. In return, Boeing needs to show us that it does too.
Membership matters!
Only dues-paying members can vote on the final offer, so make sure all your coworkers have joined. Use this link to download a membership form. After filling it out, you can either give it to a Council Rep, or drop it off at our SPEEA office at 4621 E. 47th St. S.
If you take the form into the office, you also can pick up a FREE red SPEEA T-shirt to wear on Red Shirt Fridays, as well as buttons, magnets and desk tests to display at your workstations.
Showing solidarity is more important than ever. As we saw last week when we asked you to change your voice mails, Boeing responds when it feels pressure from its workforce. As your negotiation team, we’ll continue to push for more and better contract terms, but it’s your solidarity and engagement in the workplace that gives us the leverage to make positive change.
