We, your Negotiation Teams, are diving deep into the work that needs to be done to prepare our contract proposals.
Since we were elected by the Bargaining Unit Council (BUC) made up of your Council Reps, we’ve been meeting with staff experts multiple times a week for hours each time. During these meetings and on our own time, we study our current contract and discuss gaps and issues identified by our contract administrators. We are also reviewing hundreds of pages of data from the surveys last year. Each of the five surveys reflects thousands of members’ priorities and pain points.
We continue to meet with the 15 negotiation team alternates chosen by our BUCs. The alternates can help us analyze data and discuss proposed contract language to address problem areas.
We all applied for our negotiation team because we have a strong commitment to deliver a contract that makes up for the lost years without full negotiations. We want our union’s next contract to have the compensation, benefits and work/life balance to attract and retain top talent so we can all have thriving careers at Boeing.
No date set
As of today, we do not have any negotiations scheduled with the company. We will announce the start date for our talks once it is set.
We’ll continue to send regular updates to your personal email addresses. We’ll also post information on the Current Negotiations page at speea.org.
Tell your coworkers the best way to stay informed is to sign up for home emails. It’s easy: Just click on the email icon at the top right corner of our homepage.
Show your support
If you want to help us win a better contract, there are at least two things you can do:
- Join the Contract Action Team (CAT). This group will directly support us at the bargaining table by increasing visibility, awareness and feedback during negotiations. This group will hold its first meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1. It will be a hybrid meeting, so either come to the Everett or Tukwila union halls or attend online. Either way, register here. CAT meetings will continue monthly. Check our Current Negotiations page and/or online calendar for details at www.speea.org.
- Take Solidarity School classes. The Washington Labor Education and Research Center (WA LERC) at South Seattle College has teamed with SPEEA staff for a series of classes detailing how individual union members can make a difference supporting negotiations. The classes are held both in hybrid and online-only formats; you can join any time. Click here for a list of upcoming classes and to register.
As your Negotiation Teams, we’re committed to doing our part. We’re counting on you to give a damn and do your part for our union and our shared future.
In Solidarity,
Your Prof and Tech Negotiation Teams
